Ann Bednarsky

Manager, Funeral Director

Ann Bednarsky, MSW, is a Licensed Funeral Director and the Manager of Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.

Ann earned a B.S. from Alfred University, a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an A.S. in Funeral Service from the New England Institute. She became a Licensed Funeral Director in 1986.

“As I completed my social work training, I discovered that my natural empathy was vital to my ability to team up with clients to solve complex issues. I spent the majority of my time as a social worker working with children in residential treatment with the goal of family reunification.

Having grown up with my father owning/managing our family funeral home, I came to realize that my ability to relate to people along with my interest in science could be well-utilized in our family business.

I completed my studies at the New England Institute in Boston in 1985, graduated summa cum laude, and joined my father (along with my mother, who assisted him) to learn about managing the family business. Unfortunately, my father suffered a stroke after I had been working with him for only six months, and although he lived another few years, he was unable to work from then on. I took over as Manager upon earning my New York State Directing License in 1986.

I have found our family business to be very engaging and have particularly found fulfillment in the connections made over the years and the generations, as families have returned to us and given us the honor of continuing to serve them. Our long affiliation with the Church of the Holy Trinity (formerly St. Ann’s and St. Joseph’s Lithuanian Church) continues to this day.

In addition, I have found working with new families, new circumstances, and other belief systems to be very much in line with our philosophy of “our family serving your family” in whatever form those families take.”

In addition to managing the funeral home, Ann enjoys skiing, volunteering on the Greek Peak Ski Patrol, and playing tennis.
