Mary Ann Lesso

Mary Ann Lesso, 80, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2015 at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Lesso. Surviving her are son and daughter-in-law, David and Paula Lesso, of Vestal, NY, as well as her much-loved grandson, Ben. Mary Ann was born to parents originally from Czechoslovakia. She lived in this area throughout her lifetime, taking great pride in her home and family. She enjoyed very fulfilling roles as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary Ann worked many years in Blue Cross Blue Shield's Upstate Medicare division, retiring in 1994. Some of her best memories included cruises to Russia with friends. She collected beautiful Russian dolls, hand-decorated Ukrainian eggs and lovely artistic jewelry boxes. She took ceramics classes and created beautiful hand-painted pieces including Victorian-inspired Santas. She loved to nurture flowers in her garden and to travel, taking every opportunity to visit family. Her grandson Ben was the light of her life. She stayed overnight with him every Christmas Eve to be there when he saw his gifts Christmas morning. Ben always waited patiently for Grammy to wake up and held her hand all the way to the tree.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, with Panachida at 9:30 AM at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, followed by the Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Clinton Street, Binghamton. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00-7:00 at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
