Margaret (Hirko) Sebesta

Margaret Hirko Sebesta, 98, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 5, 2022.  She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; and her son, Donald.  She is survived by three sons: Louis (Chris), Robert (Linda) and Fred (Jean) Sebesta; as well as many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and cherished relatives. Margaret’s career began at Security Mutual and extended through retirement from Singer Link.  Throughout her long life, she was most passionate about gardening, fabric crafts and hosting family gatherings.  As a conscientious and caring matriarch, she was generous, resourceful, loving and compassionate. She was also fiercely independent and continued driving well into her 90s. To all who knew Margaret, she was broadly talented and treasured; she would rather you be happy to have known her than sad that you lost her.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 148 Clinton St., Binghamton, NY.  Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery in the Spring.  Margaret loved nature.
