Bernard A. Massar, 98, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his son, Bernie; his sisters, Rose Massar and Geraldine Shaheen; and his parents, Anthony & Elizabeth Massar. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Violet; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Lois & Dominick Montemagno, and Donna Massar; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Cynthia Massar; daughter-in-law, Sharon Massar; 4 grandchildren, Dominick III and Anthony Montemagno, Dan Massar, and Amanda Hamilton; and 5 great-grandchildren. Bernie was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church. He was a proud US Navy veteran of WW 2, serving on the USS Spadefish 411, and was a member of the Mighty Mine Dodgers and the US Submarine Veterans of WW 2. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 148 Clinton St., Binghamton. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.
