Allen J Charsky, 74, son of Louis and Mary Charsky, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He graduated from Johnson City High School in 1965 and attended Broome Community College before serving in the US Army from 1967 - 1969. He was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi, Vietnam, arriving there two months before the Tet Offensive in January 1968. Al was awarded a Bronze Star. After his military service he resumed his education at Broome Community College and graduated in 1971 with an AS in Business Administration. Al then worked with Broome County Engineering Department before enrolling at SUNY Brockport in 1973. He graduated in 1975 with a BS in Accounting. After graduation he began his accounting career in Binghamton, NY with local companies GAF and then Singer Link. He left Singer Link to work with a PC Board startup company in Endicott, NY, with EPT in Ithaca, NY and with NY State Department of Labor until his retirement in 2012. He was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed the Triplets games at the old Johnson Field and the Mets games at their Binghamton Stadium. His favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed playing golf for more than 50 years with three holes-in-one to his credit. Bowling and Horseshoes were other participation sports he enjoyed for many years. Al was active in the American Legion Post 1305 serving in many capacities before becoming Commander for eight years. He is survived by his brothers, Louis Charsky, Johnson City, NY and Richard (Marilynn) Charsky, Palm City, Fl.; nieces Cindy Willis, Roseville, CA., Rachel (Todd) Anesi, Plainesville, Ohio, Lisa Charsky, Endicott, NY, and Nicole (Jim) McGivern, Watervliet, NY; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his lifetime loving partner, Sue Ryall. Friends & family are invited to gather at the American Legion Post 1305, 820 Lower Stella Ireland Road, Binghamton on Saturday, September 18, 2021, with Military Honors at 12:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life.
