Thomas M. Katcher

Thomas Michael Katcher, 76, passed away on June 16, 2015, after a lengthy illness.  He was predeceased by his parents, Marion & Michael Katcher; and his former wife, Suzy Katcher.  He is survived by 3 sons, David, Brian and Michael Katcher;  2 granddaughters, Dakota Katcher and Victoria Collins;2 great-grandchildren, Madden and Isabella; and one sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne & Steve McDermett.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.   Tom was an off-ice official for the Binghamton Senators Hockey Team and was a 42-year member of the Binghamton Umpires Association, where he also served as a Past President.   Among Tom's accomplishments were his induction into the NYS ASA Hall of Fame, receipt of the ASA Indicator Award, which is given to the nation's top amateur umpire, as well as being chosen to officiate for numerous ASA State and Regional tournaments.  Tom was selected for numerous baseball and softball regional finals, numerous championship games across STAC, MAC and SUS athletic conferences, and received the ASA Mid-Atlantic Region George Smith award.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Willow Point staff (lower level floor) for the exceptional, loving care given to Tom.  Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, NY.  Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 3:00 PM.
