Theresa Tokos gracefully walked through the gates of heaven on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. She was greeted by the love of her life, Yonk, and her daughter, Judy. She was the beautiful matriarch whose greatest joy was her family. She was an inspirational soul, and her indomitable spirit and humility encouraged her family to celebrate the traditions and joys in life, and to persist in the face of struggle. She will be missed by her children; John & Kathy Tokos, Joe & Donna Tokos, Tim Bebel, Jeanne Yeager, Jimmy Tokos, Joanie & Keith Klein, Theresa & Tim Brozovic, Tina & Mike Guley and Tom Tokos. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who idolized her. They all have many memories to cherish. Kate & Mike Vavra, Molly & Justin DuBrava, John 'Mick' & Kathryn Tokos, Jocelyn & Mike Whittemore , Erin & Chad Lampman, Joe & Heather Tokos, Justin & Kacie Reynolds, Alisha & Corey Hill, Aubrey & Rob Delany, Billy & Emily Yeager, Zac & Erica Tokos, Carly & Jake Tokos, Danny Klein & Kelly Nelson, Megan and Jonathan Mordoff, Steve & Taylor Guley, Matthew & Ryan Brozovic and Maci Jude Tokos and her mom, Holly. Theresa was also gifted with great-grandchildren who will miss her; Vincent, Jack, Caleb, Sadie, Michael, Penelope, Sydney, Layla, Madison, Ella, Tommy, Claire, Lucy, Sarah, Tobin, Fallon, David, Rhiannon, Cameron, Zoey, Giada & Roman, with two more on the way. Also surviving Theresa are her brother and sister-in-law; Jerry & Sylvia Tokos; her sister-in-law, Patricia Charpinsky; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Yonk; her daughter, Judy, her parents; Joseph and Ludmilla Valachovic; her brothers and sister; Joseph, Jerry, and Mary. Mom loved to support all her children and grandchildren in their events. She was a Yankee fan, a local hockey fan, loved her Cowboy Romance novels, going to the casinos, and trips with Marge & Harry. She was an amazing cook and not eating was not an option. She made sure everyone was fed, and that trait was passed on to us all. Mom never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, she was always ready with a card. Mom was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Church, now the Church of the Holy Trinity. Mom was blessed to have her granddaughter, Carly, become her caretaker for these past few months. Mom loved her and her dog, Jake and we are all so grateful to Carly for opening her home to mom and all of us. In the words of her own mother, mom taught us to “love one another, seek rather what unites us, than what may separate you from or another. As I take leave, or shall I say until we meet again, let me remind you of the most important things in life; His Holy Church, His Good News, Truth and Kindness.” A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 9, at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton. Family will receive friends at the church from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00-10:00 AM on Tuesday. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity. Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
