Theresa J. Dobish, 98, passed peacefully in her sleep November 25, 2015 after 2 ½ years of steadily declining health. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Pecka and an infant brother and husband Edward (Eddie). She is survived by her son James Dobish, Virginia; daughter in law Diane Chenango Bridge; grandchildren Tamara and Eric Wrighter, James and Julie Dobish, Sonya Dobish and Gerik Dobish; great grandchildren Elizabeth Wrighter and Jaylyn and Olivia Dobish. She grew up in Johnson City and graduated from JCHS and like most of her peers she went to work in E.J. She was married in 1938 and together she and Eddie owned and operated The Tavern Restaurant until his death in 1968. She then managed the kitchen at the Rose Garden on Clinton Street until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 1254 and served as a kitchen and Bingo Volunteer there for many years. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Vestal Park Nursing Center for their exceptional and loving care during her extended stay. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at the Bednarsky Funeral Home 96 Glenwood Avenue Binghamton at 9:30am and 10:00am at the Church of the Holy Trinity 346 Prospect St Binghamton where a funeral mass will be offered. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-7pm at the Bednarsky Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Activities Fund at the Vestal Nursing Center 105 W. Sheedy Road Vestal, NY 13850 or AVRE 174 Court Street Binghamton NY 13901.
