Robert "Bob" P. Halaburka

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Halaburka on July 1, 2026 at the age of 87.  He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary Halaburka; and his son, Randy.  Bob was a lifelong member of the Binghamton community.  He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and Broome Tech. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.  Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to I.B.M. Corp. before retiring.  Bob was a devoted member of St. James Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. An avid golfer since the age of 13, he found great joy on the golf course and teaching others the highs and lows of the game. Above all, Bob treasured time with his family and especially loved attending his grandchildren's many sporting events. He was always willing to lend a hand to help his neighbors and was forever rooting for the Yankees.  Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Hazel; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise & Alexander Nikula; his daughter-in-law, Kathy; his grandchildren, Nathan, Katie (Dave), Nicholas (Sarah) and Anastasia (David); and his great-grandchildren, Bethany, Abigail and Harper.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Quasem, Dr. Brennan and the staff at Penn Avenue Dialysis for their many years of compassionate and dedicated care. A Funeral Service will be offered at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Administration Voluntary Services, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY  13210, Attn: Voluntary Services.
