Rita (Spencer) Talkiewicz

Rita Talkiewicz, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Vestal Park. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Talkiewicz; and her mother, Josephine Spencer. She is survived by her children, Paula & Michael Gelunas, Bill & Becky Talkiewicz, Tom Talkiewicz & Natalie Keefer, Marie & Michael Howland; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Rita had a deep love for reading and greatly enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her beloved cats. She was an avid bowler for many years and worked for many years at UMM Pharmacy. She later enjoyed working as an in-store demonstrator for Mariano’s, where her friendly personality and outgoing nature truly shined. The family would like to thank the staff (both current and former) at Vestal Park for their love and care of Rita. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday,  April 20, 2026 at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to an humane society or animal shelter, such as S.P.E.A.K or the Broome County Humane Society, in Rita's name.
