Richard J. Kocik

Richard "Dick" J. Kocik, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Bridgewater Nursing Ctr.   He was predeceased by his parents, John & Carrie Kocik; his sister, Janet (Neal) Doebler; his brother, Jack (Frances) Kocik; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen & John Kocik; sisters-in-law, Helen Kocik, Rita Marvill and Alice Kocik; and brothers-in-law, Ramon Palazzo and John Cherevko.   He is survived by his devoted wife, Veronica Kocik; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Lynn & Benedict Nobes; special grandson, Richard & Veronica's pride and joy, Nickolas Nobes.  He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jane & Norman Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law, William & Margery Kocik; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margaret Cherevko, Edward Kocik, John & Patricia Kocik, Joseph & Alice Kocik, MaryAnn Palazzo, Barbara & Bruce Banas, and James & Kathy Kocik.   He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity. Dick was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW Post 80.  He was an avid bowler while in the service and continued to teach, play and love bowling over his lifetime.  He was a retired employee of NYSEG.  Richard will be greatly missed by his wife, daughter, grandson and family.   A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, NY.  Family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass at 10:30 AM.  Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.  The family would like to thank the staff at Bridgewater for the loving care offered to Dick, especially Louise Mitzel and Kimberly Campbell, NP.
