Slavetskas, Rev. Paul J.
Rev. Paul J. Slavetskas, 69, is now at peace with the Lord after a long illness on November 27, 2015. Fr. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rosalie Slavetskas; a sister, Joan; and a brother, Joseph. He is survived by Rita Slavetskas and Emil Michaux, Anne Marie and Les Distin, James and Kim, Remy and Sherry, Joseph and Vickie, Sue (Kodey) Slavetskas; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Birte Paterson.
Fr. Paul graduated from St. Patrick’s School, Binghamton, St. Andrew’s, Rochester, NY, his B.A./ M. Div. from St. Bernard’s Seminary, Rochester. He was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, NY in June 26, 1971. His assignments included St. Mary’s, Cortland; Blessed Sacrament, Johnson City; and St. Ann’s and St. Paul’s, Binghamton; St. Daniels and Most Holy Rosary, Syracuse; Unity Acres (Home for Homeless Men) Orwell, NY and St. John the Baptist, Syracuse. He was Chaplain for the Catholic Daughters of Cortland, NY. Part-time Chaplain at Our Lady of Lourdes and Wilson Hospital. He was a full-time Chaplain to the Nursing Homes of the Triple Cities, and St. Daniel’s to James Square Nursing Home. Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
