Paul P. Palilonis, 97, died peacefully March 10, 2017 with his children by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; parents, Veronica and Paul; sister and brother-in-law, Ann (Ed) Allen; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley (Ruth) Palilonis; brother-in-law, Donald Dwyer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Hilda Branau; grandson, Ian Blachek. He is survived by daughter, Nancy Palilonis, Delray Beach, Florida; son, Paul Palilonis, Jr., Binghamton; daughter, Mary (Jim) Blachek, Montrose, PA; grandchildren, Michael Pettit, Ethan Pettit, Mara Blachek, Montrose, PA, Thomas and Julie Blachek, Chambersburg, PA; sister-in-law, Ellen Dwyer, Mt. Dora, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Binghamton's 1st Ward and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. He proudly joined the U.S. Navy and served his country throughout WW II after which he graduated from the University of Miami, Miami, FL, and was a founding father of the Miami chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi. Paul owned and operated Foothills Motel with his sister for more than 50 years, greeting travelers and making friends. Paul was proud of his Lithuanian heritage and his love of the Binghamton area. He was an avid trout fisherman, bee keeper, and loved planting his garden annually. He taught his children about life, the importance of a good education and that we could grow up to be anything we wanted to be. Paul was a loving and devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Trinity 346 Prospect St. Binghamton, NY 13905. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM.
