Matthew Slavetskas Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our first-born beloved son, Matthew Joseph Slavetskas, who left us on August 21, 2025.  Matt was a beacon of kindness, always doing for others with a ready smile and quick sense of humor, which left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.  He is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Vickie; brother, Justin; brother-in-law, Bart; cherished niece and nephews, Madalyn, Ryan and Benjamin.  Several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his four cats also survive him.  He was predeceased by his precious sister, Sara, and was a dedicated caregiver to his late, beloved grandparents, Doris and Mike. Cousin, Sandy (Chrissie)  Woodward was like a surrogate mother to Matt; she grieves deeply with us, as does his godmother, Anne Marie Distin; and his dear close friend, Mary Alice Lesko.  Matt was a graduate of SVHS and Binghamton University.  He enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping, riding his four-wheeler and in his younger years, motorcycles, snowmobiles, skiing and baseball.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Broome County Humane Society or the Animal Care Council because of Matt's love for animals. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE; A MEMORIAL GATHERING WILL BE HELD FROM 12:00 NOON-4:00 PM ON OCTOBER 18, 2025 AT THE HOUSE OF REARDON, 25 GRANT ST., BINGHAMTON.  A TIME FOR REMEMBRANCE WILL BEGIN AT 12:30 PM.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
