On Wednesday, December 24, 2014, Mary Irene Pufky , 93, passed away peacefully at the Ideal Senior Living Center in Endicott, NY. She was born in Czechoslovakia and came to the United States when she was 5 years old, passing through Ellis Island with her mother and father, Joseph and Ludmilla Valachovic, and her brother, Joseph. She lived in Binghamton before settling in Johnson City. Mary was married to John Pufky for 51 years until his passing in 2000. She is survived by her children, David Pufky and his wife, Karen, of Endwell; Janet Tornatore and her husband, Sam, of Winter Garden, FL; and Carol Stasko , of Princeton Junction, NJ. She was blessed with several grandchildren, John and Heather Pufky, Jeremy and Amanda Pufky, Jennifer and Matthew Bryant, Anthony and Emily Tornatore, Joseph Tornatore, Nicole and Todd Mazurick and Jamie and Kara Stasko who loved her dearly. She was also blessed with great grandchildren, Jaidyn, Avery and Elliot Pufky, Samantha Mazurick, Pearson and Ryder Stasko, Nicolas Tornatore and James Bryant who will remember her with great love. She is survived by her beloved sister, Theresa Tokos, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Jerry Valachovic; a very special brother-in-law, John Tokos; and a dear sister-in-law, Helen Valachovic. The family is extremely grateful to the staff at the Ideal Senior Living Center where she resided for the past several months. Their care was exceptionally kind. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton. Family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the Mass at 2:00. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ideal Senior Living Center , 601 High Avenue, Endicott, New York 13760, where Mary will be remembered fondly.
