Mary E. (Mrva) Mitchell

Mary Elizabeth Mitchell (Mrva), 85, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from Willow Point Nursing Home.  She was predeceased by her parents, Kathryn (Hambalek) and Stephen Mrva; her beloved husband, R. Gordon Mitchell – 9/11/2005; siblings, John, Joseph, Frank and Michael Mrva and her sister, Ann Baty.  Mary is survived by her children: Dennis (Ildiko) Mitchell of Maine, NY, Deborah (Leonard) Cousino of Waterbury, VT, and James Mitchell of Endicott, NY; grandchildren; Corie,  Janey  and Jackie Mitchell, Ashley Fuller, Sara (Joel) Morey, Morgan (Joshua) Rogers, Luke and Sydney Dollmeyer;  great-grandchildren; Amaya, Dylan and Piper Rogers, Damian Johns, Aaliyah and Joseph Ross, Lincoln and Quinton Morey.  Mary was born in Pennsylvania and moved at a young age to Endicott with her mom and family.  She was fond of telling childhood stories of her two girlfriends and her siblings.  She admired pretty clothes and loved shopping for them. No outfit went unnoticed and she never let the wearer go past her without a compliment on their attire.  After graduating from UEHS, she worked at Hamlins in Endicott. She married “Gordy”, raised a family while continually giving loving care for her own mom – Kathryn Mrva.  Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. She worked many years at Endicott Machine and Tool and retired from Endicott Forging Works. In her later years, Mary had a special place in her heart for the wonderful time spent with James McColley III and his family in PA. She loved her caretakers, friends, her kids, grandkids and great-grand kids. She will be sorely missed but always remembered in the future games of Pinochle or Scrabble. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28th, from 1:00- 4:00 PM at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Avenue, Binghamton, NY.  Funeral services will held at 9:30 AM on Monday at the funeral home, and at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY, where a Funeral Mass will be offered.  Interment will take place at a later date.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc. www.bednarskyfuneralhome.com
