Mary E. (Kelly) Bakay

Mary Ellen Bakay 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at home in Binghamton, NY. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Joanie Ealy and her husband Chris; her sister-in-law, Deborah Poteran; her father–in-law, Michael Bakay; and her nephew, Brian. She is survived by her husband Gary Bakay; her children (yours, mine and ours) Sherene (Bob), Michelle (Nate), Erik (Lynette), David (Farhiya), Jessica (Jory), Gary Jr., Monica (Joe), Leslie (Mitch), John (Stephanie), Josh (Brooke) and Daniel; 25 grandchildren; her parents Jack and Mary Kelly; her mother–in-law, Marie Bakay; and 18 siblings. She is also survived by James Kaminski (father of some of her children); nieces, nephews, their children (and grandchildren), and countless cousins. Mary Ellen was a mother to all, a woman who loved unconditionally and supported others even in their weakest moments. She always had a hug and encouragement for everyone. Family will receive friends from 9:15-10:00 AM (family at 8:45 AM) at St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church, 17 Cottage Street Friendsville, PA 18818.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM with repast to follow. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date. Mary Ellen battled against Lupus her whole life and wanted nothing more than to beat it and see her grandchildren and family grow.
