Lena A (Masaryk) Tomanek

Lena (Masaryk) Tomanek, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 5, 2017.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Tomanek; six siblings, Frank Masaryk, Marie Hudgick, Helen Samulka, Rudolph Masaryk, Richard Masaryk and John Masaryk.  She is survived by four children and their spouses, Robert Tomanek, Jr., Lt. Paul & Barbara Tomanek, Leann Tomanek and Margaret "Midge" & Brad Berfield; 2 grandchildren, Gina Tomanek and Paul Tomanek, Jr.  Also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia and Shirley Masaryk; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Lena was a member of St. Ann's Church, now the Church of the Holy Trinity, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She was a graduate of the Wilson Hospital School of Nursing, where she was employed as an O.R. Nurse.   Lena is now "Gone With the Wind" and is forever in the arms of our Lord.   She will be greatly missed.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, NY.  Family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.  The family would like to express appreciation to the Eucharist Ministers who faithfully visited Lena over the last several years.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
