Joseph D. (Joe) Veninsky Sr.
1943 – 2024
81 years old
Joseph D. (Joe) Veninsky Sr. entered into everlasting life on October 6, 2024, at the age of 81. He grew up in Binghamton, New York, surrounded by a loving and close-knit family. After graduating from Seton Catholic High School, he worked at GAF and Azon and then retired from Willow Run Foods.
Joe recently celebrated his 40-year anniversary with his wife and soulmate, Elaine, this past September. Over the years they enjoyed trips to Sylvan Beach for fishing and camping, and Atlantic City, and spending time at their home on the West Side. Joe was very devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily. He enjoyed feeding the chipmunks and squirrels in his backyard and was constantly shooing the neighborhood cats away. He also liked going to the casino which he affectionately referred to as “The Den.”
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Elaine. He is also survived by his children, Sheila Veninsky, Lorraine Veninsky, Michelle (Chuck) Gleason, Christine (Christopher) Clapper and Joseph D. (Tasha) Veninsky Jr.; his siblings, Sherry Young, Gerry (Paulette) Veninsky, Ed Veninsky, Cindy (John) Barden and Connie (Pete) Lux; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph F. and Dorothy Veninsky; sister, Karen Wood; and mother-in-law Gertrude (Trudy) Engates.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass celebrating Joe’s life at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1 Aquinas Street, Binghamton, New York, on Saturday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City.
