Joseph B. Tripicco, of Binghamton
Joseph B. Tripicco, 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary & Frank Tripicco; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth & Joseph Konnick and Romayne & Charles Fisher; brothers-in-law, Joseph Porubiansky and Anthony Ruffo; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Letavish. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Tripicco; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen & Larry Terpak, and Judy & Sheamy Reid, all of Johnson City; a grandson, Jordan & Courtney Salisbury, of Binghamton; great-grandson, Anthony Salisbury, of Johnson City; a brother & sister-in-law, Frank & Dorothy Tripicco, of Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Maryanne Ruffo, of FL and Diane (Porubiansky) Rafeedi, of GA; brothers-in-law, James & Cherie Porubiansky, of PA and Francis & Susan Letavish; several nieces, nephews and cousins. After graduation from BCHS in 1955, Joe served in the U.S. Army; his active duty was to manage the golf course at Ft Huachuca, AZ. Joe & Rita were wed on November 30, 1957. He was a 40-year employee of Ansco/GAF/Anitec/Int. Paper, retiring in 1998. He was active in the GAF Recreation Assoc., during which time he served as President for one year. He played in several golf leagues and was elected golf governor for 3 years during which he oversaw the golf leagues and activities. Upon his retirement, Joe attended BOCES for 2 years, majoring in building trades. After graduation, he was hired as a substitute teacher in those areas, holding that position for 10 years. Joe was a basketball official of 30 years in local board 49. Joe was a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Trinity, and a member of Fr. Ambrose Dwyer Knights of Columbus Council 2953 in Johnson City. He served as Grand Knight for 2 terms and as treasurer for several years . He was a member of the 4th degree of the J.F. Hourigan Assembly 724 of the Knights of Columbus, serving one term as Faithful Navigator. He was also a member of the 4th degree Color Corps, marching in local parades for several years. Joe served a 2-year term as District Deputy of Upstate N.Y.-Syracuse Board of District Deputies of Knights of Columbus. He was a long-time member of Endwell Greens Golf Course, playing in several leagues. He played in and won several Knights of Columbus State Tournaments. He & Rita enjoyed their weekly dates of a golf match (he won 99% of the time). They played (and won) many golf tournaments at Pocono Palace in PA and played at many beautiful courses throughout the country. They enjoyed attending several PGA golf tournaments over the years. He was a Yankees and NY Giants fan & attended many Yankee Stadium bus trips every year. Joe was an avid hunter most of his adult life. He hunted deer with Dave, Dennis and Mark, & kept the freezer full of venison. He made 2 trips to Newfoundland & bagged one moose during each trip. One of the racks is on prominent display behind Joe’s bar. Most of all, he was a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 10:30 AM. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
