Jane (Laskowski) Bednar

Jane M. Bednar, 89, of Johnson City, NY, passed away on April 3, 2026. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Laskowski; her brothers, Edward Laskowski, Thomas Laskowski, Mark (Robert) Laskowski and her son, Matthew Bednar. Jane is survived by her son, Mark Bednar and daughter-in-law, Lisa Bednar; her daughter Marie Bednar; her son Michael Bednar; her brother Jack Laskowski; her grandson Christopher Bednar; her granddaughter Caroline Bednar and her granddaughter Mary Bednar. She went to school at St. James Parochial School and Johnson City High School. She married Peter M. Bednar at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Binghamton, NY. Jane was an incredibly loving person and was kind to everyone she met. She worked at the Bon-Ton for many years where she was a customer favorite. Jane was an affectionate and devoted mother. In her four children, she instilled the Catholic faith and shared her Polish heritage. Her grandchildren admired and learned from her wisdom and deep faith. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved all animals. When in need, she was always there for family and friends. Jane was a generous host and phenomenal cook. Holidays, birthdays and special occasions were exceptional due to Jane’s love and desire to care for others. She brought everyone together and was a bright light. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Saint James Church, 155 Main St., Johnson City.  Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Bednarsky Funeral Home, 96 Glenwood Ave, Binghamton, NY. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, to Father Charles Opondo-Owora and to Sister Marianna Ezebuke of Saint James Church.
