Welcome to the memorial page for

James M. Rock

December 15, 2014

James M. Rock, 62, more commonly known as Jim, Jimmy, Uncle Jimmy, or Dad, began his eternal life as a hunter on Monday, December 15, 2014. His spirit will live on through his 3 children, 4 siblings, many adoring nieces, nephews and friends from near and afar.   He was predeceased by his parents, Anna & Jerome Rock; a special aunt, Arlene Pranckun; a niece, Christina Nichols; and his dog, Duke.  He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Tracy Rock & Dale Shulmistra, of New Jersey and A1C Jessie James Rock, of Japan; one son, Matthew Rock, of California;  a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome & Ann Rock; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Carolyn Lehmer,  Ann Marie & Michael Acquisto, and Martha & Jeffrey Nichols, of Massachusetts; several nieces, nephews and their families,  Michael Rock, Meredith Rock, Lauren Lehmer, Taylor Lehmer, Michael Acquisto, Amy Gasperini, Lisa Marie Hund, Amanda Podesta and Becky Nichols.  Also survived by an aunt and several cousins.  Throughout life, Jim was truly one in a million. He was rough, yet tender; an animal lover, yet hunter of many.  And rugged, yet meticulously groomed (boy, did he ever love cologne and that fabulous head of hair)   Jim was a devout member of St. Paul's Church.  In addition to church and enjoying time with family and friends, Jim cherished his signature mustache, the great outdoors and anything camouflage.   He was a self-employed carpenter and member of Local 277.   Jim's heart was as big as his smile and he had a twinkle in his eyes that could light up the City of Binghamton, even on these dark December days.   He was a loyal friend, caregiver and lover of motorcycles and Covettes.  His family and friends will find comfort knowing that Jim will continue to keep a watchful, brotherly eye over us all.  Please join us in remembrance of Jim Rock's life;  Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church, 15 Doubleday St., Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.   Family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of continuing care of his great-niece, Michelle Hund, memorial donations may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children,  2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219.
