Isabel (Tomecek) Berger

Isabel Berger, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael & Rosemarie Tomecek; and her son, James, born in 1949.  Isabel is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 75 years, Rudy Berger; two cherished daughters, Carol (Bruce) Sims, of Southampton, Bermuda, and Nancy (Giorgio) Fani, of Houston, TX.  She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Michael Sims and Lindsey (Jason) Lemon; her precious great-grands, Lucy and William Lemon, all of Southampton, Bermuda; along with numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.  Isabel was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church.  She was a wonderful homemaker and a fantastic baker; everyone was made to feel welcome in her home on Grace St., or most recently, at St. Louise Manor.  Isabel enjoyed travel and frequently visited her children in Bermuda, Colorado, Texas and Europe/Italy.  She enjoyed her trips to play the slot machines and most afternoons you could find her and Rudy playing a few hours of Rummikub, unless her friends at St. Louise could get her to join in a game of Bingo!  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM  on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 148 Clinton St., Binghamton, NY.  Family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 10:00 AM.  Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.  Isabel will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Floral tributes are welcome or those wishing may have a Mass offered for Isabel.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
