Irene (Valky) Plestis

Irene (Valky) Plestis passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, surrounded by her family.  She was predeceased by her parents, Vito & Mary Valky; brothers, Bill and Joseph Valky; a sister, Rosemarie Valky;  her daughter, Darlene Powell, and their beloved Maltese companion, "Precious".   She is survived by her devoted son, David Plestis and his girlfriend, Russann Delaney; her granddaughters, Lisa Aton, Melissa Madison, Tiffany Plestis, Jennifer Plestis-Reis and partner Jen Reis.  Also survived by her great-grandson, Kaiden Aton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Irene was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Knights of Columbus, Johnson City.  Her family was the center of her life. She was also an avid traveler, loved Bingo and was a passionate casino connoisseur.  Special thanks to Choconut Center Fire Station 57, where Irene was a 'frequent flyer'.  At Irene's request, funeral services will be private.  Inurnment will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Choconut Center Fire Co., 1011 Middle Stella Ireland Rd., Binghamton, NY  13905.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
