Helen B. (Bednarsky) Harris

Helen Bednarsky Harris passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Aurora, CO.  She is survived by  two daughters and sons-in-law,  Dr. Meredith Harris & Dr. Eduardo Seda, and Elise Harris & Mark Johnson;  four grandchildren,  Adrian (Gus) and Anna Seda, and Julia and Luke Johnson;  and many well-loved nieces and nephews  She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John Harris;  parents, Paul & Anna Bednarsky; a sister, Marie Hojsik; and a brother, Robert Bednarsky. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Helen, a Binghamton native, graduated from Binghamton Central High School and Rider College.  She also received a Master's degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from the University of the Pacific.  Helen began her career teaching business at North High School in Binghamton.  She was a high school counselor at Susquehanna Valley High School. She went on to be a school psychologist for the Johnson City School District until her retirement.  She was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling in her later years.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered.  Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery at a later date.  Family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
