Poem for my Mother
A friend gave me a prism
I hung it right away
And sunlight danced in colored beams
If there was sun that day.
My mother sat across the room
Alight with rainbows there.
We shared our coffee every day
As rainbows danced on her.
They lighted on her forehead.
They lit her knee, replaced.
They filled the wall behind her
Her hair, her shoulders graced.
Now, mom, you're gone forever,
You were my dearest friend
I told you but you never got
You were my rainbow's end.
