Elizabeth Kutalek, formerly of Kirkwood

Elizabeth (Skrha) Kutalek, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Bridgewater Nursing Center.  She joins her beloved husband, John and her dear son, John Paul Kutalek.  She was also predeceased by her brothers, John, William and Paul Skrha; her sister, Anna Skrha; and her niece Kathleen Morrison.   She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Robin (Austin) Kutalek, of Harpursville;          nieces and nephews,  Bill Skrha, Marcie Kocak, Cheryl Buiano and George, Robert, Jerry and Richard Kutalek; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George & Pat Kutalek.  Betty was also a loving step-grandmother and step great-grandmother to Robin's children, Sean & Jennifer McIntyre and Brent & Lana Sturdevant; and Robin's grandchildren,  Anthony McIntyre and Brianna, Andrew and Cassidy Sturdevant.   She was a lifelong member of Ascension Lutheran Church.  Upon her marriage to John at age 23, Betty lived and worked the family farm until age 80 when her health would no longer allow it.  She helped John with the cows and the haying, raised chickens, ducks and geese and kept flower and vegetable gardens.   Funeral services were held on Monday at 9:30 AM at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 10:00 AM at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 324 Clinton St., Binghamton, NY 13905.  Burial was in Slovak Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church.   As Betty would say, "Love to all!"
