Dorothy M. (Ryan) Doebler

Dorothy Mae Doebler, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, while in hospice care at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, New York.
Known to everyone as "Dottie," she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a wonderful sense of humor that touched everyone who knew her.
For many years, Dottie worked in the hospitality industry, where many will remember seeing her at LaMonica's, Morey's, and The Mahogany Room. After leaving the food service industry, she continued her career in Facilities Management at SUNY Binghamton, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.
Anyone who knew Dottie knew she was a collector of just about anything! She had a sweet tooth—especially when it came to chocolate—and she adored her beloved fur-baby kittens. Dottie was also known for her collection of hats and was rarely seen around town without one. Her quick wit, warm smile, and ability to make people laugh, even during life's most difficult moments, were gifts that everyone who knew her treasured.  (Although, she was known to have a temper from time to time!). Her favorite place to eat was Tony’s Texas Hots! In addition to her parents, Edward and Beatrice LaVaute, Dorothy was preceded in death by her three sons, Dennis Allen, Edward John, Richard Michael; and her sister, Maxine Jagger. Dorothy is survived by her devoted companion, Dick Latonic, who faithfully visited her every day and lovingly took her on special rides when she was no longer able to get out and about. She is also survived by her son, Daniel Lee; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren a great-great grandson and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Dottie's laughter, wit, and loving spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.  A Funeral Service will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, with the Rev. John R. Martinichio officiating.  Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Broome County Dog Shelter, 110 Cutler Pond Road, Binghamton, NY 13905
