Delores Stanek

JOHNSON CITY – Delores Stanek went home to the Lord on October 31, 2023.  She joins her parents Joseph and Anna Stanek and her three sisters, Barbara Formanek, Beverly Wopart, and Shirley Hoffman.  She is survived by twelve nieces and nephews: William Formanek, Susan Bessing, JoAnne Plowinske, Marilyn Buchfink, Marie Wopart, James Wopart, Theodore Wopart, Bonnie Walters, Baron Hoffman, Barbara Hoffman, Catherine Hoffman, and Craig Hoffman; one cousin Diane Acker of Churchville, PA; several great nieces and great nephews; and lifelong friend Dolores Visocky.  Delores was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity (formerly St. Ann’s) where she volunteered for several years as a Eucharistic minister, Lector, religious education teacher, and she enjoyed cooking for Friday night bingo events.  She also volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital for several years and was a Girl Scout leader. She retired from Anitec Imaging (formerly Ansco/GAF) after 40 years of service, including 7 years in New York City.  She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and intelligence and her passion for reading and knitting. The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Fairview and Lourdes Hospital who provided compassionate care to Delores over the past several months, and the helpful residents at the Harry L Drive Apartments to where she had recently moved. A Funeral Mass will be offered in the Spring and will be announced. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
