Charles John Kutney

Charles John Kutney, 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.  He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen & Stella Kutney; and his brother-in-law, Dr. William G. Patrick.  He is survived by his children, Carly and Benjamin Kutney; a grandson, Julian Trucks Kutney; his brother, Stephen J. Kutney and his children, Stephen and Colin Kutney; two sisters, Sarah Patrick and her children, Navy LT Meghan (Josh) Henderson, Dr. Katherine Patrick (Matt Arnold), Christina (Ethan) Young, Dr. Elizabeth Patrick and her fiancé, Eric Steimer; and William D. (Kelly) Patrick; Mary Kutney and her son Augustin (Jamie) Guley; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins. Charlie was an incredibly gifted musician; he played 12 instruments and truly excelled as a bluegrass fiddle player.  In 1975, he and his band, "Just Another Bluegrass Band" along with his best friend, Jimmy Ryan, won first place at the Blue Grass Combo finals at the Great NYS Fair. He also won numerous blue ribbons at the Old Time Fiddlers convention in New Milford, PA.  He was the fiddle player for the "Blue Ridge Mountain Review" band, taught music lessons to children and played benefits for Toys for Tots. He will be missed. See you on the other side, brother.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. Patrick's Church, 9 Leroy St., Binghamton. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
