Bruce J. Banas

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bruce Banas, 90, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Bruce is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Barbara (Kocik) Banas; two sons, Patrick Banas (Sara Kasson and Brooklyn Kasson) of Binghamton and Greg Banas, of Ohio; former daughter-in-law, Shelley Banas; and a sister, Barbara Sperski. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church.  Bruce worked for the railroad in his early years and later retired from NYSEG.  He kept busy working around the house to keep strong up until the end.  He loved the New York Giants, was a Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed fishing, golfing and mushroom picking. Thank you to Mike and Linda Doyle and Victoria Strauch for providing care and comfort in his final months. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 148 Clinton St., Binghamton, where the family will receive friends from 10:15 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
