Brian Matuszak Obituary

Brian Matuszak, age 62, of Johnson City, NY, passed away early April 3rd, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.   Brian spent his life dedicated to providing for those he was closest to. His support and undoubted loyalty to his family was his pride. As a Captain of the Johnson City Fire Department and as a teacher and coach for the youth in the community, his bravery and hard work touched many. Brian loved to spend his time in the sun, connecting with the outdoors, and caring for the lawn and gardens. Brian is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Davi Matuszak; his son, Zach Matuszak; and his two daughters Marika Matuszak (husband Frank Somich) and Livia Matuszak. He is also survived by his father, Bob Matuszak; his brother, Kevin Matuszak (children Cameron Matuszak and Skylar Matuszak); and sister, Karen Carr (husband Robert Carr and children Matthew Carr and Andrew Carr). Brian was predeceased by his mother, Joyce Matuszak.  Brian was touched by everyone who provided support and prayers through his illness. The family would like to thank Guthrie Lourdes Hospice, especially his dedicated nurse Hannah, for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s name can be made to the Lourdes Hospital Foundation at www.http://lourdeshospitalfoundation.com/donate in support of “Hospice - Lourdes”. At his request, there will be a private family only service to honor Brian’s life at Bednarsky Funeral Home.
