Ann P. (Pawlyshyn) Kolota

Ann P. Kolota, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2015, of natural causes at her home.  She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Edward J. Kolota in 1987; her brother, Michael Pawlyshyn; and a sister-in-law, Betty Pawlyshyn.  She is survived by her children, Martha & her husband, Darius Movasseghi, of Long Island, Ted & his wife, Lise Kolota, of Westborough, MA., and Chris Kolota, of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Pashan, Darion, Quinn and Nick.  She is also survived by her brother, Alec; several nieces and nephews.  Ann and her husband, Ed, were entrepreneurs for many years, operating the Almonte Hotel, the Lincoln Hotel, the Windermere and other properties.  She devoted endless energy to their businesses and also served as President of the Binghamton Bar & Restaurant Association.  All the while she was cooking, sewing, ironing and caring for her family.  She also found time to sing in the Binghamton Choral Society  and the Sweet Adelines chorus.  Ann was a prize-winning needleworker.   In her later years, she devoted her life to her church; she was an active member of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church.  She enjoyed singing in the choir, (as recently as last Sunday) organized bake sales and served on the church board.  She was the first woman in the United States to be awarded the Orthodox Church of America St. Innocent medal. A Funeral Service will be offered at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Ave., Endicott, NY.  Family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM.  Panachida will be held at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott, NY.  Arrangements by Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc.
