Raymond Nezelek Obituary

Raymond Nezelek, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018, with his family at his side.  He was predeceased by his parents, Paul & Nellie Nezelek; six brothers, Ed, Katz, George, Joe, Chet, infant Stanley; and two sisters, Caroline and Genny.  He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Cahill, of Manville, NJ, Ellen Hall, of Endicott, and Barbara & David Carlson, of Utica; nine grandchildren, Kyle & Dayle Paustian, Greg, Lindsey, Logan & Liana Hall, Amy, Molly and Melanie Carlson; one brother & sister-in-law, John & Joan Nezelek; one sister, Mary Ford; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was an accomplished carpenter who took great pride in his work.  He assisted in the construction of many local landmarks and never hesitated to help family members with their projects.  Blessed with a builder's mind, Ray could design, measure and construct anything he visualized. He loved fishing and camping trips, golfing and bowling.  For over 20 years, his favorite place to meet friends for senior coffee and crosswords was McDonalds. Thank you, Liz!  He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War, serving with the Merchant Marines and the US Army.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday at the chapel in Mausoleum II at Calvary Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
