Jean E. Chakanovsky

Jean E. Chakanovsky, 86 of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, Adolph "Chick" Chakanovsky in 1997; three brothers, Garfield, Lwelelyn and Richard Vanderpool; three sisters, Bess Hines, Trudie Powers and Nellie Parish. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanie M. Chakanovsky, Linda (Dale) Heier; two grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Arnoult of Lake Zurich, Illonois, Dale (Melissa) Heier of Binghamton; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Arnoult, Dylan and Nathan Heier; her sister, Winifred Porter of Montgomery, Texas; a special nephew, Richcard Dudak and close family friend, Colleen Beck; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion, Post 1254, Ladies Auxilliary where she held several offices on both the local and state levels including, NY Girls State. She was also a longtime Board Member of the First Ward Action Council. The family would like to thank Lourdes and UHS for their compassionate care of Jean during this time. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc. 96 Glenwood Ave. Binghamton, NY with Pastor Douglas Hill, Jr. officiating. Private burial will be held in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Bednarsky Funeral Home on Monday from 12 Noon until time of service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to a charity of one's own choice.
