Welcome to the memorial page for

Greydon Ellison

November 18, 2017

Greydon Ellison, father, educator, and country gentleman, passed away November 18, 2017.  He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one sister, his former wife, Nony Geary Ellison, and his son, Richard C. Ellison.  He is survived by two daughters, Judy Papso (Joe), and Terri Kolpakas (Bob); one daughter-in-law, Kelly Ellison (Rick); ten grandchildren:  Michael, Matthew, and Nathan Papso; Bobbie (Jaymi), Kit, MarTee, and Clara Kolpakas; Alexis Duda (Steve); Corey Ellison; Meaghan Gyarmati (David); and three great-grandchildren: Hallie, Adison, and Lillian Gyarmati. Mr. Ellison proudly served in the Pacific Theater in WWII on the submarine Grouper out of Hawaii.  He attended Harper College on the GI Bill and earned his master's degree at Cortland State.  He was awarded his Superintendent's Certificate from Cornell.  A strong believer in the value of education, he continued his post graduate work at Syracuse University.  Mr. Ellison became first a teacher and then served as an elementary school principal in the Binghamton City School District for many years where he was very devoted and well respected.  At retirement he enjoyed a second career in transportation at Wilson Hospital, convincing his young grandchildren he was a doctor.  He restored the Catskill Livery Barn, which was originally built by his great grandfather, into a home where he enjoyed his role as presiding country gentleman and chief resident of Triangle, NY.  The family is very grateful to Bob Kolpakas, his caregiver, and for the fact that Greydon was able to remain in his beloved "barn" until his very peaceful passing. Above all, Greydon loved his children.  We are thankful that he is now reunited with his family and with his beloved son, Rick.  We are confident that he was welcomed into Heaven and is now in the arms of our Lord.  Arrangements are being made through Bednarsky Funeral Home and burial will be at the convenience of the family.  If you would like to honor Mr. Ellison's legacy, please consider a donation to the Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, 3621 NY Route 206, Whitney Point, NY 13862. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
